LEICESTER has signed Australia centre Izaia Perese from the Sydney Waratahs on a’multi-year’ contract for the 2024-25 season. The 26-year-old former rugby league winger was converted to a centre after joining the Waratahs from Bayonne in 2021.
Prior to joining Bayonne, Perese played for the Queensland Reds and Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League. He was part of Eddie Jones’ Wallabies squad for the 2023 World Cup.
“My family and I are very excited to move to the UK,” Perese told the BBC. “I am looking forward to embracing Leicester’s culture.”
Leicester has also signed Wales prop Nicky Smith. The 29-year-old will join the Tigers next season after triggering a clause in his Ospreys contract to quit.
