On Thursday night, Tennessee received some positive news when four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley committed. The Nashville native gave Tennessee an early advantage in their 2025 class by selecting the Volunteers over the Texas Longhorns.
Based on the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Utley is placed 161st in the class. Checking in as the 19th ranked defensive lineman in the cycle, he is the fourth-ranked player in the state of Tennessee.
Ensworth High School is home to the 6-3, 265-pound talent. In addition, Utley participates in track and field throwing events and plays basketball for the team. Utley recorded 35 total tackles as a junior, including seven tackles for loss. Throughout the season, he forced four fumbles and had six quarterback hits. Utley was given credit for ten tackles for loss in 2022.
Because of His efforts on the trail, Tennessee managed to hold off Texas for Utley. Presumably, a long-standing relationship made a difference because Garner now receives additional information.
Ten pledges have been made by Tennessee for the 2025 class. The only recruit with a higher ranking than Utley is George MacIntrye, a five-star quarterback. According to 247Sports, the Volunteers are presently ranked eighth in the 2025 class rankings.
