Expectations for Braves vs. Diamondbacks opening day

ATLANTA, Georgia (First News Atlanta) – At last, the Atlanta Braves will open the 2024 season at home.

The Braves will return home on Friday at 7:20 p.m. to take on the defending National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks, following road trips to Philadelphia and the south side of Chicago. Tommy Henry of the Diamondbacks will face Braves pitcher Max Fried.

If you’re using public transit, two circulator routes loop between the Battery and the Cumberland Mall Transfer Center. To get to the Cumberland Mall Transfer Center, you can take the MARTA 12 bus route from the Midtown station or Cobblinc’s 10 or Rapid 10 services from the Arts Center station.

Rideshares pick up and drop off on Windy Ridge Parkway just southwest of the Orange parking deck.

While you’re there

The Braves are pulling out all the stops for opening day.

The festivities will begin with Braves Walk at 4 p.m. Braves players and coaches will take part in the parade, which will start near the Silverspot Cinema and proceed to the first base gate. the Atlanta Braves House Band, Party Nation, will also perform music at the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage before the game.

The Braves will begin batting practice around 4:40 p.m., followed by the Diamondbacks at 5:35 p.m.

Every attendee will receive a magnetic 2024 schedule.

Former Brave and 1995 World Series Champion Marquis Grissom will throw out the first pitch and the cast of Jersey Boys will sing the National Anthem. The performance will end with a flyover of F-35s from the 187th Fighter Wing Red Tails.

If you’re feeling up to the task, you can tackle the 4 Bagger, a new food item with four burgers, one pound of BBQ brisket, reaper pepper mayo, jalapeños, cheese and beer-battered onion rings.

It looks delicious and it’s available at 1871 Grill near section 113.

What else is new?

That hedonistic hamburger isn’t the only thing new at Truist Park.

The 1871 Grill is also getting the Perimeter Dog, a foot-long dog with sweet bacon jam, spicy sport peppers, diced Vidalia onions and lemon-pepper Dijonnaise sauce, and the Pitcher’s Mound, waffle fries with slow-smoked brisket and served nacho-style with spicy cheese sauce, pico de gallo, salsa roja and lime crema.

The Pitcher’s Mound will be available at the 1871 Grill near section 113 and the Perimeter Dog will be available at the location near section 141.
