Commentary: This SDSU Aztecs men's basketball team was the best yet. And I saw Kawhi Leonard's. - The San Diego Union-Tribune

For the first time in San Diego State University history, the Aztecs will be playing in the Sweet 16 in consecutive years.

Following their 85-57 win over Yale on Sunday night, the Aztecs will take on the No. 1 seed University of Connecticut Huskies in Boston on Thursday.

“We’ll go out there and we’ll play in a hostile environment in Boston against a great UConn team and see where it ends up,” said coach Brian Dutcher. “We’re going to go in with a game plan and with a bunch of guys that believe they can win and we’ll see how it ends.”

Jaedon LeDee, SDSU’s star All-American forward and one of the nation’s most prolific scorers, was on the sidelines last year when gold confetti showered the Huskies after they beat the Aztecs in the final, 76-59.

“We kind of had a little bitter taste in our mouth last year after they beat us, but we get to play them again and they’re a great team,” said LeDee.

Watch Parties

The Thursday, March 28 game is slated to begin at 7:39 p.m. Eastern (4:39 p.m. local) and is being televised by TBS / truTV  and available via San Diego Sports 760.

The university is hosting a watch party for students and season ticket holders at Viejas Arena. The event is not open to the general public and those who do not have tickets will not be provided access. Tickets are not available at the door.

Several local businesses are hosting watch parties on Thursday. Alumni groups are also hosting parties throughout California including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, and Danville, and across the country including Denver and Plano, Texas. A list of locations to watch the Aztecs is available online.
