Latest Report: San Diego State men’s basketball HC Brian Dutcher shortlisted 7 players regarding NBA newly noted intentions

San Diego State men’s basketball head coach Brian Dutcher came to SDSU 25 years ago and he plans on being on Montezuma Mesa for a few more years.

Dutcher signed a contract extension that will keep him on the Aztecs bench through the 2027-28 season.

According to the contract signed by Dutcher and San Diego State director of Athletics John David Wicker, the annual base compensation is as follows:

  • 2023: $1.9 million
  • 2024: $2.03 million
  • 2025: $2.13 million
  • 2026: $2.32 million
  • 2027: $2.32 million

The annual base compensation of Dutcher’s contract will make him the highest-paid employee in the Cal State University system.

UCal State chancellor Mildred García, at $795,000, was the school system’s highest-paid employee in 2023, the Sacramento Bee reported. For comparison, the total pay package last year for Adela de la Torre, the president of SDSU, was $548,196, according to the Bee.

Dutcher, the 2019-20 USA Today National Coach of the Year, is in the midst of his seventh season as head coach at SDSU, since taking over for Steve Fisher. In 1999, Dutcher came to San Diego State as an assistant on Fishers staff.
