Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has been watching from afar for the last month after ankle surgery to speed up the healing process for a high sprain. While the Steelers had lost three straight games, they had a much-needed offensive explosion against the Bengals in a 34-11 win that got them to 8-7 and kept them alive in the AFC playoff race.
Mason Rudolph threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns in the win, and also posted a passer rating of 124- all season highs for any Steelers quarterback.
When asked if he had learned anything from watching from the sideline, Pickett gave a simple answer. “No,” Pickett said.
It seems as if everyone in the Steelers’ locker room is beyond over answering questions. Najee Harris has denied speaking to the media after multiple losses, and George Pickens was heavily scrutinized for being critical of the media for questioning his effort.
Rudolph and Roethlisberger went onto share a locker room for four years (2018-21) before Big Ben hung up his cleats following the 2021 season.
It was Roethlisberger’s team up until he retired, but Rudolph did play in 10 games (starting eight) for the Steelers in 2019 after Roethlisberger underwent season-ending elbow surgery. The Oklahoma State product threw for 1,765 yards, 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions on his way to a 5-3 record.
