Sidelined Brisbane halfback Adam Reynolds has provided a fresh update on his injury situation at the Broncos and the surprise snub of Tristan Sailor as his replacement in the halves.
The veteran No.7 has also touched on the backlash against Reece Walsh, who copped criticism from NRL fans for being ‘selfish’ and trying to do too much himself in Reynolds’ absence during last week’s 40-18 mauling by the Roosters.
The Broncos will be without their inspirational skipper Reynolds for the majority of the season after he tore a bicep in the heavy defeat to the Roosters. The crafty halfback is expected to miss between 12-14 weeks of action but revealed on Brisbane’s Triple M Breakfast with Marto, Margaux & Dan on Friday that he’s hoping to get the all-clear from specialists to return to light training soon.
“I’ll go in an see the surgeon on Tuesday, obviously get the tick of approval to start some light training again,” Reynolds said. “I’ve still got a role to play there (at training), we’ve got some young halves that could do with a bit of help, a bit of guidance and obviously to help out Kevvie (coach Kevin Walters) with game planning.”
One of the biggest decisions Walters had to make after the injury to Reynolds was who would step into the halves role alongside five-eighth, Ezra Mam, for Friday night’s away game against Parramatta.
Many fans probably thought the Broncos coach would go with the versatile Tristan Sailor, who’s already proven his play-making ability at fullback in the absence of Walsh earlier in the season, and has experience playing as a five-eighth.
