The Blues, who sit second in the Championship with seven wins from nine games, have taken the division by storm despite showing signs of adapting to the level.
They’ve suffered setbacks against Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Wolves, but managed to come out on top in all three games.
They weren’t able to pick up all three points at the John Smith’s Stadium, where they were without skipper Sam Morsy and top scorer Nathan Broadhead, but Davis was still delighted by the character that his side showed to avoid defeat on a wet afternoon in West Yorkshire.
“We came back from being 2-0 down to win the game (v Cardiff),” he recalled. “On Saturday (v Huddersfield), we got a goal back in it, just from pure heart from the boys to want to score the goal and try to win the game.
“It’s one of those where, if a goal goes against us, I don’t know why, but it gets us going a bit more.
“We start playing more football, which we obviously should from the start, but we’re in a better league this year with better players.
“It’s going to be like that sometimes, you’ve just got to learn from it.”
Town’s recent results have seen them gain national attention, with most falling on manager Kieran McKenna. His side are sitting above the likes of Leeds United and Southampton at the moment, which has certainly raised some eyebrows throughout the wider football community.
Davis knows that this is just the start, and that his focus will always be on the next game. However, he still appreciates how well the team has done so far, especially when considering how difficult the Championship is.
“We’ve done really well,” he said. We’ve done what we had to do, but we’ve got to keep it doing. It’s all early doors really and there’s still plenty of games left
