ESPN REPORT: Ipswich Town’s manager to sanction a move away for player after…

After his consolation goal on Wednesday night, former Ipswich Town player Cole Skuse feels head coach Kieran McKenna should approve a loan move for young defender Elkan Baggot.

The Tractor Boys played Fulham, a Premier League team, at Portman Road yesterday in the EFL Cup in an attempt to advance to the competition’s quarterfinals. But three goals from Tom Cairney, Rodrigo Munoz, and Harry Wilson crushed the Blues’ hopes of moving up.

Baggot, a 21-year-old defender for the home team, grabbed one back late in the game, but McKenna’s men couldn’t capitalize because it was too late. Even so, it was a fantastic accomplishment for the former Cheltenham Town loanee to score only his fourth goal in professional football and his first goal for the team.

This season, Baggot’s playing time has been restricted, as the young center-back has not yet made an appearance for Suffolk Town in the Championship while playing for the Northern Irish coach.

Speaking,  former Town defender Skuse has claimed that Baggot should be loaned out to a team in League One to ensure his development doesn’t stagnate

“It would be great exposure for him. I know he had a couple of loans last season, and we actually played against him last year.

“However, it appears to me that even in the brief time we spent playing against him, he has developed both as a person and as a player in the way he handles himself.”

Because he appears ready for it, I believe he merits and deserves a solid loan transfer to a good League One team near the top of the league.
