Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan has announced his departure due to his new role as the head coach of the U.S. men’s hockey team for the 2026 Milan Olympics.
This prestigious appointment was officially announced by USA Hockey, marking a significant career milestone for Sullivan, who has previously served in international coaching roles, including as an assistant coach at the 2006 Olympics and for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Sullivan’s new position entails leading Team USA in both the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off and the 2026 Winter Olympics, bringing his extensive experience and successful track record from the NHL, where he led the Penguins to two Stanley Cup championships.
