San Diego Padres have officially announced the signing of a top catcher worth over.

Former All-Star catcher Gary Sánchez is set to join the Milwaukee Brewers in free agency after a successful season with the San Diego Padres.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Milwaukee Brewers have reached an agreement with free agent catcher Gary Sánchez.

Sánchez finished 2023 with the San Diego Padres after brief unsuccessful stints with the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants. The 31-year-old established himself with the New York Yankees from 2015 to 2021, before being traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2022.

According to Heyman, Sánchez’s contract will be for one year and $7 million, with a mutual option for 2025.Spotrac estimated Sánchez’s market value as $27.5 million over three years.

Sánchez finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2016, cementing his place among the Yankees’ young core. He made the All-Star Game in 2017 and 2019, hitting over 30 home runs each year and winning the Silver Slugger in 2017.

Despite his offensive performance, Sánchez’s defense deteriorated, and his effort was routinely questioned.
