DOUG King has reiterated his desire to take Coventry City back to the Premier League ahead of what he hopes will be an ‘epic’ 2024/25 campaign.
Coventry City’s owner and executive chairman released an end of season message after the Sky Blues finished the 2023/24 season nine points outside of the play-off places.
During King’s short tenure, City have reached the Championship play-off final and FA Cup semi-final, and he is eager to achieve further progress both on and off the pitch next term.
King said: “I have been clear since taking over in January 2023, that our ambition is to return the Sky Blues to the top-flight, and the amazing experiences that we have had over the last 18 months have only whetted the appetite of everyone.
“Coventry City is a football club that is once more realising how powerful it can be when the team and community pull together and work in unison.
“The FA Cup run was truly historic. Reaching our first Semi-Final for 37 years and putting on such a heroic performance against Manchester United has showcased our club again to both a national and international audience.
“I know that we all take immense pride in our team who refused to let the occasion pass them by and instigated a turbo-charged comeback for the ages that will never be forgotten.
“Wembley Stadium packed once again with Sky Blues supporters was an awe-inspiring sight, rightly widely lauded, and an occasion that only football can bring and that just cannot be matched by any other sporting experience. Another incredible day in this club’s history.
“I look forward to seeing you all again alongside many others for what we hope will be an epic 2024/25 campaign.”
