Toronto Maple key player was involved in a terrible accident after… Just Now.

Taylor MacDougall, Matt Petgrave’s University of New Brunswick Reds teammate, maintains he is not a goon.

“Not at all. “Matt is a very talented player,” said MacDougall, who resides in Fredericton.

Petgrave, a 31-year-old defenseman, was playing in the Elite Ice Hockey League of the United Kingdom when his skate slit an opponent’s throat during a collision during a game on Saturday.

Adam Johnson, 29, slumped on the ice and died later at the hospital.

MacDougall described it as “an extremely unfortunate freak accident” and stated unequivocally, “it was absolutely that—a freak accident.”
