EMOTIONAL:Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese breaks down in tears upon learning of her first All-Star selection.

Angel Reese broke down in tears while speaking with reporters on Tuesday night following another historic performance for the Chicago Sky rookie.

After extending her double-double record in the Sky’s 85-77 victory over the Atlanta Dream, Reese had officially earned her first career All-Star selection. She learned about the honor just as she approached the podium at the Gateway Center in Georgia.

Reese will join Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Dearica Hamby, and Arike Ogunbowale on Team WNBA for the WNBA All-Star game later this month. They will face off against Team USA in a pre-Olympics event at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Reese finished fifth in fan voting, receiving over 380,000 votes, while Clark led with more than 700,000 votes.

Although Clark has received much of the spotlight this summer, Reese’s impressive campaign is setting up a very competitive Rookie of the Year race.
