JUST IN:Former Maple Leafs GM Explains Why Nylander, Not Marner, Should Be …
Brian Burke, the former general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, believes the team should trade William Nylander instead of Mitch Marner.
Following the Maple Leafs’ playoff elimination by the Boston Bruins, Marner became the center of trade rumors. However, Burke, who was the GM in Toronto from 2008 to 2013, thinks Nylander should be traded because he considers Marner to be the more valuable player.
“Obviously, with no-trade and no-move clauses, you can question the wisdom of it all, but you really need to convince one of these guys to leave. The logical choice to trade would be Willie Nylander rather than Mitch Marner, as I’ve mentioned before, but it might end up being Mitch Marner. If you’re going to persuade one of them to go, it won’t be popular, people won’t like it, but they’ll understand,” Burke said on The Leafs Nation on July 3.
