REVEALING TRUTH:Lewis Hamilton decisively refutes Sir Jackie Stewart’s critical six-word assertion…
Lewis Hamilton has emphatically disproved Sir Jackie Stewart’s claim that he lacks the “hunger” for F1. The seven-time world champion ended a 945-day victory drought by winning the British Grand Prix on home soil last weekend.
Hamilton was visibly emotional after securing his record-breaking ninth win at Silverstone, lifting a weight off his shoulders after two challenging seasons with Mercedes. Doubts had surfaced about his capabilities as he ages, with fellow British motorsport legend Stewart among those questioning his motivation. Last year, the 85-year-old had bluntly stated, “Lewis no longer has that hunger.”
He told German outlet Bild: “First of all, Lewis is one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. However, in the past decade, he raced with Mercedes, a team that was largely dominant.
“During this period, Lewis faced competition primarily from his teammates. Apart from 2016, he consistently came out ahead in these battles. Then he was defeated by Nico Rosberg. With all due respect, Rosberg was a good driver, but not the most talented in the world.
“But Rosberg was hungry and had an unwavering desire to become world champion. Lewis no longer possesses that hunger. Consequently, and due to the car being less dominant now, he is encountering significant challenges.”
