Adrian Newey isn’t expected to reveal his next move in Formula 1 until at least September, but significant steps are being taken behind the scenes by several teams to secure his services.

The fact that Red Bull’s 71-point lead over Ferrari is seen as concerning speaks volumes about Adrian Newey’s impressive reputation.

The narrowing gap between Red Bull and their closest rivals in 2024 can be attributed to several factors.

Firstly, the grid has converged because Red Bull nearly reached the maximum potential of the current ruleset in 2023, leaving little room for further improvement.

This has allowed teams like Ferrari, and particularly McLaren and Mercedes, to match Max Verstappen’s performances in recent races.

Additionally, the recent poor form of Sergio Perez has been a factor. Perez has clauses in his contract that could see him dropped during the summer break if he doesn’t meet certain performance criteria, which he currently appears unlikely to achieve.

Despite these challenges, Newey remains highly sought after and has reportedly entered further discussions with one of Red Bull’s rivals, according to Formu1a.Uno.
