Breaking: Dodgers unveil a brand-new …
For decades, the Dodgers have been a vital part of the Los Angeles community, embodying the city’s brilliance and excellence with their constant star power and flair.
In their latest release of City Connect uniforms, set to debut this Saturday against the Angels, the Dodgers aim to honor Los Angeles and the rich history associated with the team since its relocation from Brooklyn in 1958. Each element of the uniform is designed to carry deep significance.
The front wordmark: The typeface draws inspiration from the signage of the LA Memorial Coliseum, the Dodgers’ first home in 1958. Its contract and upward curve symbolize the city’s ambition to reach new heights.
The hashtag #ITFDB: This stands for “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball,” a phrase used before every Dodgers home game, and also pays tribute to the legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully.
The mark: This combines the iconic LA interlocking logo with the swooping “D” from the logo script to create the Dodgers’ LAD team code.
The numbers: They reflect mid-century typefaces that were popular when the Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles from Brooklyn.
The fabric: Featuring a “galaxy of stars” in the color scheme of Dodger Stadium, this element aims to represent Los Angeles’ diversity.
The colors: While the Dodgers are traditionally associated with Dodger Blue, the City Connect uniforms introduce a new palette of Cobalt and Electric Blue, accented with “Chili Red” as a nod to the red numbers on the Dodgers’ primary uniforms.
