The injury-riddled Los Angeles Dodgers are poised for a significant boost with the imminent return of key pitchers.
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed on Saturday night that All-Stars Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw are officially set to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation. Both pitchers, who have been sidelined along with several other Dodgers starters, are scheduled to make their comeback soon.
Glasnow is slated to return first, with Roberts announcing that he will start on Wednesday. Glasnow, who last pitched on July 5 and has been on the injured list since July 9 due to back tightness, will be reintegrated into the lineup. Despite a recent rough patch with a 10.00 ERA and 1.556 WHIP, Glasnow had earlier posted a strong 2.88 ERA and 0.870 WHIP this season.
Acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in December, Glasnow signed a four-year, $115 million extension despite his past injury issues. Between 2019 and 2023, he made 60 starts with a 26-11 record, a 3.03 ERA, and a 1.013 WHIP when healthy. He is now on track to set a new career high in innings pitched this season.
Kershaw, a 10-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner, has also dealt with health challenges recently. He has not exceeded 132 innings in a season since 2019 and has yet to pitch in 2024. Following shoulder surgery last November, Kershaw began his rehab assignment in June. After a stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City and additional outings with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Oklahoma City, he recorded a 3.60 ERA, 1.000 WHIP, and 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings in his rehab starts.
