Andreeva, the fourth player under 18 to reach a WTA 1000-level quarterfinal since the tier’s inception in 2009, started strongly in her first encounter with the World No.1, displaying composure despite the windy conditions. She broke serve at 1-1 and maintained her advantage throughout the first set, saving break points in both the sixth and tenth games.

Swiatek, needing to elevate her performance, broke Andreeva’s serve early in the second set and didn’t face another break point until the final game. With a chance to level the third set at 6-6 and force a tiebreak, Andreeva’s backhand return went long, allowing Swiatek to secure the 2-hour, 30-minute victory two points later.

Swiatek remains undefeated in quarterfinals matches in 2024 and has now achieved her 30th win at a WTA 1000 event this season. In the past 15 years, only Serena Williams (36 in 2013) has recorded more wins at this level in a single season.
