Sydney Roosters’ enforcer may miss the finals after being reported just 11 minutes into his comeback game from a previous suspension.
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves may not play again until the late stages of the NRL finals due to a minimum three-match suspension for a high tackle. Following a weekend of controversy with the bunker and match review committee, he received a grade-two high tackle charge on Monday for his tackle on Gold Coast’s Sam Verrills.
He was reported just 11 minutes into his return match following his latest suspension.
The departing Sydney Roosters prop will miss three games if he accepts an early plea, or four games if he unsuccessfully contests the charge. If the Roosters finish in the top four, an early plea means Hargreaves will be sidelined until the team’s knockout match in either the second or third week of the finals. This could potentially be his final NRL game before he leaves for the Super League. Additionally, Cronulla centre Jesse Ramien faces a one-match ban for a high tackle on Jack Bird, which would extend to two games if he challenges and loses.
