Lewis Murphy is set to return to Super League, with a possible new team identified.
Lewis Murphy is poised to make a comeback to Super League in 2025, as his name has been circulated among clubs, with St Helens nearing a deal to sign the Sydney Roosters winger.
According to Love Rugby League, St Helens is seeking to enhance their backline as they rebuild following a disappointing 2024 season. The club is set to lose experienced players such as Tommy Makinson and Lewis Dodd, and there is uncertainty about the futures of Konrad Hurrell and Waqa Blake.
This has led them to consider Murphy, who is reportedly interested in returning to Super League after just one season with the Roosters. Murphy has made only seven appearances for the Roosters’ New South Wales Cup team in 2024 and has not yet debuted in the NRL.
Although he is under contract for 2025, the Roosters are reportedly willing to let Murphy explore other options, potentially facilitating his return to Super League next season.
