Breaking:Sha’Carri Richardson Targets Sprint Double …read more

Sha’Carri Richardson is gearing up to conclude her impressive 2024 season with two key races at the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 13 and 14. The American sprint star has had a standout year, which included clocking the fastest time in 2024 for the 100m at the U.S. Olympic Trials (10.71 seconds) and earning a silver medal in the 100m at the Paris Olympics. Although she narrowly missed out on Olympic gold to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, Richardson rebounded swiftly, defeating Alfred in their first post-Olympic rematch at the Zurich Diamond League meet.

Richardson will compete in both the 100m and 200m events at the Diamond League Final, a prestigious competition bringing together some of the top athletes from the Paris Olympics. In the 100m, she will again face Alfred, along with other elite sprinters like Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Côte d’Ivoire’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou. In the 200m, Richardson will line up against Olympic bronze medalist Brittany Brown, among others.

Despite a slight disappointment at the Olympics, where she finished second in the individual 100m, Richardson remains a dominant force on the track. She contributed to the U.S. gold medal in the 4x100m relay, solidifying her position as one of the fastest women in the world. Her return to competition after the Olympics has been strong, and she is looking to end the season on a high note by adding the Diamond League title to her list of achievements.
