In one of the most controversial moments of the 2017 Formula 1 season, tensions boiled over between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. The high-stakes race took a dramatic turn when Vettel, frustrated by what he perceived as Hamilton “brake-testing” him during a safety car period, collided with the back of Hamilton’s car and then pulled alongside to make contact in a fit of anger.

The incident, which quickly became a talking point among fans and commentators, saw Vettel receiving a 10-second stop-go penalty, though he maintained that Hamilton had deliberately slowed down in front of him, prompting the reaction. Hamilton, on the other hand, denied any wrongdoing, calling the move reckless and accusing Vettel of dangerous driving.

Despite the heated exchange on track, both drivers managed to finish the race, with Hamilton coming in fifth and Vettel fourth. However, the controversy surrounding the incident overshadowed the race results, intensifying their rivalry as they vied for the championship title.

The Baku GP has since been remembered as one of the most dramatic races of the 2017 season, with the Vettel-Hamilton clash going down in F1 history as a moment of high drama and controversy.
