Daniel Ricciardo fights back tears after Singapore GP in hint F1….read more.

Daniel Ricciardo was visibly emotional during his post-race interview at the Singapore Grand Prix, with speculation growing that it could have been his final race in Formula 1. The Australian driver, known for his infectious personality and years of success with teams like Red Bull and Renault, finished a disappointing 18th. However, Ricciardo managed to help his former teammate Max Verstappen by setting the fastest lap, thereby denying Lando Norris an extra point.

Rumors are swirling that Ricciardo may soon be replaced by Liam Lawson, with an official announcement expected before the United States Grand Prix. The speculation has cast a shadow over Ricciardo’s recent performances, as fans wonder if his lap around the Marina Bay Street Circuit was a bittersweet farewell.

Speaking to F1 TV after the race, Ricciardo appeared emotional and reflective. “There are a lot of emotions because… I’m aware it could be it,” he admitted, acknowledging that he might be facing the end of his F1 career. “I think it’s also just exhaustion after the race. There’s so much—like a flood of many emotions and feelings and exhaustion—and yeah, the cockpit is something that I got very used to for many years. I just wanted to savour the moment.”

In a separate interview with Sky Sports F1, Ricciardo again hinted at his uncertain future, becoming choked up as he looked back on his long career. “I put my best foot forward. Let’s say the fairytale ending didn’t happen, but I also have to look back on what it’s been,” he reflected. “Thirteen or so years, and I’m proud.”

Ricciardo also expressed gratitude for being named Driver of the Day by fans, something he usually doesn’t dwell on. “Typically the Driver of the Day is not something us drivers look too much into, but today I can say it’s something I’m appreciative of. That one today means a little something,” he said.

If VCARB, Ricciardo’s team, decides to replace him after the Singapore weekend, it could trigger a series of changes in the F1 grid, particularly for Sergio Perez. The Mexican driver finished a concerning tenth in Singapore and has not placed higher than sixth in his last 12 races. With his struggles continuing, Perez is under pressure to perform in the final six races of the season.

Should Liam Lawson be given the opportunity to drive in Ricciardo’s seat, the next six races will be crucial for him to impress. If Lawson excels, he could emerge as a serious contender for Perez’s seat for the 2025 season, especially if Perez’s form continues to decline.

Ricciardo’s potential departure from the sport would mark the end of an era for one of F1’s most beloved drivers. While the results haven’t always been there in recent years, his charisma and talent have made him a fan favorite. As the F1 world waits for an official announcement, Ricciardo’s fans will be hoping for a proper send-off, celebrating a career filled with memorable moments and incredible achievements.
