Heavy Birthdays
First up, it’s a big milestone for guitar legend George Lynch, who turns 70 today. Lynch, known for his work with Lynch Mob, KXM, T&N, and the influential Dokken, has been a key figure in shaping the sound of heavy metal guitar since the 1980s. Another birthday shoutout goes to Scott “Wino” Weinrich, who turns 64. Wino is best known for his work with The Obsessed, a band pivotal to the development of doom metal. His influence can be heard in many of today’s stoner and doom bands.
Heavy Releases
Looking back to the past, several iconic metal and hard rock albums were released on this day. STATUS QUO’s album “Hello!”, released 51 years ago on September 28th, 1973, remains a staple in classic rock collections. Known for its high-energy boogie rock, “Hello!” was a significant release for the British band.
LED ZEPPELIN’s legendary live album “The Song Remains The Same” turns 48 today. Released in 1976, this live recording and accompanying concert film captured the magic of Zeppelin’s live performances, forever immortalizing their place in rock history.
