Spencer Hyde, the 2023 World Series of Pro Mod Champion, is set to compete in Top Fuel at the NHRA Fall Nationals during the Stampede of Speed at Texas Motorplex. Hyde will once again team up with Paton Racing, a partnership that has proven successful in previous events. Their collaboration first gained attention at the NHRA Finals in Pomona last November, and more recently, they competed in a match race in Lancaster, New York earlier this summer.

Hyde expressed his excitement about returning to the Top Fuel dragster. “I’m thrilled to be getting back into the fuel car in Dallas,” he said. “This wasn’t something we originally planned, but Todd [Paton] called a couple of weeks ago, and we managed to work out the details. The state of Texas provides travel funds for the Pro teams, which helps ease the financial burden. That support is fantastic and made it possible for us to make this happen again.”

Paton Racing’s team owner, Todd Paton, is equally enthusiastic about having Hyde behind the wheel. “We’re excited to be returning to an NHRA National Event with Spencer driving our Top Fuel Dragster,” Paton said. “His NHRA debut in Pomona last year was unforgettable for several reasons, particularly his impressive 3.778-second, 323.27-mph run. It was our team’s best performance to date, and we’re hopeful we can improve on that in Texas.”

The Stampede of Speed, a highlight of the motorsports calendar, includes 10 days of action-packed events leading up to the Texas Fall Nationals. The event is a favorite among drivers, teams, and fans. With concerts, bull-riding, a fan-fest, the Champions Dinner, JEGS AllStars, NHRA Division events, and the NHRA National Event, the festival is known as “the fastest 10 days in motorsports.”

Hyde is particularly eager to make his debut at the Texas Motorplex, saying, “I’m really excited to race at the Texas Fall Nationals for many reasons. I’ve never competed at this track, and being part of the Stampede of Speed as a competitor is awesome. The Meyer family puts on such an amazing event, and I’m proud to be driving the Paton Racing Dragster in Texas.”

For Paton Racing, the goal is to build on the momentum they’ve gained in previous competitions. The partnership between Hyde and Paton has already produced strong performances, and both are optimistic about achieving even better results in Texas. With Hyde’s experience in Pro Mod and his increasing familiarity with Top Fuel, the team is positioned to make an impact during the Texas Fall Nationals.

Qualifying for the event kicks off on Friday, October 11, with final eliminations set for Sunday. Fans can watch the action live on NHRA.TV or catch it on FS1 throughout the weekend. Additional information, including TV schedules, can be found on NHRA.com.

As the NHRA Fall Nationals approach, Hyde and Paton Racing are gearing up for what promises to be another thrilling chapter in their collaboration. Both driver and team are ready to take on the competition and hopefully set new records at one of the most anticipated events of the season.
