Ozzy Osbourne’s RRHOF Induction to Feature Jelly Roll, Jack Back, Billy Idol,…

Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with his second Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (RRHOF) induction on October 19 in Cleveland, recognizing his solo career. The 75-year-old rock legend, already inducted in 2006 as a member of Black Sabbath, expressed his surprise and excitement at receiving this distinction again. “I’m still in shock that I’m getting inducted for a second time,” he told Rolling Stone, adding that he’s “very excited” about the event.

Osbourne’s induction will feature an impressive lineup of performers paying tribute to his illustrious career. Among those set to honor him are actor and musician Jack Black, who performed a School of Rock-style rendition of Osbourne’s 1980 hit “Mr. Crowley” last year. Osbourne revealed that he has been a fan of Black’s for a long time, calling him “a genuine rock & roller.”

In addition to Black, several high-profile musicians will take the stage to celebrate Osbourne’s solo work. This includes Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan, country star Jelly Roll, and punk icon Billy Idol, as well as a stellar group of guitarists such as Zakk Wylde, Osbourne’s longtime collaborator; Andrew Watt, a recent producer; and Wolfgang Van Halen. The backing rhythm section will be comprised of Metallica and former Ozzy bassist Robert Trujillo and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Osbourne had praise for those stepping up to honor him. He referred to Billy Idol as a “rock icon” with “timeless” music, and suggested that Idol also deserves a place in the Hall of Fame. He spoke warmly of Keenan, calling him a “creative force” who has sustained three successful bands—Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer—for decades. As for Jelly Roll, whose career has skyrocketed this year, Osbourne was honored by his participation. “Who doesn’t love Jelly Roll?” he said. “His voice is soulful, pure, and dirty. I’m so honored that someone would do this for me who I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting.”

Osbourne’s solo career has earned him his first nomination and induction this year. Eligible since 2006, his solo work has given the world hard rock classics like “Crazy Train,” “Bark At the Moon,” “Mama I’m Coming Home,” and “No More Tears.” However, it’s not yet known if Osbourne will perform at the event, as he retired from touring last year due to health issues.

Alongside Osbourne, other musical legends will also be inducted at the 2024 RRHOF ceremony, including Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Peter Frampton, and Kool & the Gang. The event, held at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, will feature a star-studded roster of performers and presenters, such as Busta Rhymes, Dr. Dre, Demi Lovato, Slash, Keith Urban, and many others.

The 2024 RRHOF induction ceremony will stream live on Disney+ on October 19 at 7 p.m. ET. A special primetime broadcast highlighting the night’s top moments will air on ABC on January 1, 2025, and will be available on Disney+ and Hulu the following day.
