Davante Adams trade rumors: Jets’ Garrett Wilson addresses Raiders star WR possibly coming to…read more

There has been growing speculation around Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams potentially being traded, and one of the teams reportedly interested is the New York Jets. Adams, who played with Aaron Rodgers for several years in Green Bay, is said to be interested in reuniting with his former quarterback in New York. The Jets, in turn, could use a boost on offense as they continue to search for an identity five weeks into the season.

While the idea of Adams joining the Jets is intriguing, how does New York’s current top wide receiver, Garrett Wilson, feel about the possibility? Reporters asked him about the rumors on Friday, and Wilson was supportive of the idea. He emphasized that if adding Adams would help the Jets win more games, then it would be a welcome move.

“That’d be cool, man,” Wilson said, via SNY. “I feel like it’s cool. You know, if we can get him over here, like I always say, if someone can help us win, let’s do it.”

The Jets’ offense has struggled through the first part of the season. It currently ranks near the bottom of the league in terms of both yards per game (295.8) and points per game (19.0), and the team is coming off a narrow 10-9 loss at home to the Denver Broncos. Many hoped that Wilson, who had a breakout rookie season, would emerge as an elite receiver with Rodgers under center. However, with Rodgers sidelined due to injury and the team’s offense still finding its footing, Wilson has recorded just 20 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown through the first four games. His 191 receiving yards are tied for 43rd in the NFL.

Adding Adams to the mix could provide a much-needed spark for the Jets’ offense and help meet the team’s high expectations. However, it won’t be easy to acquire him. NFL Media reports that while Adams may want out of Las Vegas, the Raiders are not going to part ways with their top offensive player without getting significant value in return. The team is reportedly seeking at least a second-round pick for the star wide receiver, and the highest bidder may ultimately land him.

For now, the trade rumors surrounding Adams remain just that—rumors. But if the Jets can find a way to make it happen, they could be adding another potent weapon to their offense.
