Rumor Mill: Steelers QB Russell Wilson Could End Up….read more

The NFL rumor mill is buzzing with speculation as the trade deadline approaches on November 5. One rumor gaining attention involves Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who could potentially be part of a trade that sends him back to the AFC West.

Wilson, currently sidelined with a calf injury, has yet to play a game for the Steelers. Though named the starter before the season, Pittsburgh has been rolling with Justin Fields, who led the team to a victory over Denver in Week 2. Fields’ emergence has raised questions about Wilson’s future with the Steelers, particularly as the team sits at 3-1, while Wilson’s impact has yet to be felt.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly fielding trade requests for star wide receiver Davante Adams. The Steelers have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Adams, especially given their limited options at the position outside of George Pickens. USA TODAY’s Andrew Vasquez suggested that a trade involving Wilson and a third-round pick might be enough to acquire Adams. While there’s no confirmation that the Raiders are interested in Wilson, they are dealing with quarterback struggles of their own, with Gardner Minshew underperforming and Aiden O’Connell briefly stepping in.

Wilson, now 35, has struggled to regain his previous form after disappointing stints with the Seahawks and Broncos. Though he has yet to play for Pittsburgh, some believe he could still be a serviceable starting quarterback, and a move back to the AFC West could reignite his career. However, as ESPN’s Dan Graziano pointed out, Wilson’s time in Pittsburgh has been underwhelming, and his future is uncertain. Graziano even suggested that Wilson may not play another down for the Steelers, making him one of the league’s biggest disappointments this season.

As the Raiders sit at 2-2 and the trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen whether they will move Adams. For now, Wilson is still a Steeler, and the Broncos are paying him over $30 million not to play for them. Should Wilson be traded before the deadline, it would create a compelling storyline, especially if he returns to the AFC West. Fans will be watching closely to see how these rumors develop.
