Track and field fans are gearing up for more Olympic action as Netflix prepares to release Sprint Part 2 on November 13, 2024. The docuseries, which takes fans back to the 2024 Paris Olympics, recently dropped its trailer via World Athletics on X (formerly Twitter) on October 17. While Noah Lyles and Gabby Thomas are set to take center stage, the trailer also features appearances from other prominent athletes, including Fred Kerley, Kishane Thompson, Shericka Jackson, Julien Alfred, Kenny Bednarek, and, unexpectedly, Sha’Carri Richardson.

The trailer opens with a focus on Lyles, Richardson, Thompson, and Thomas, highlighting their intense moments in Paris. Lyles, fresh off his 2024 gold medal win, confidently declares, “I’m the fastest, and I’ve got the medals to prove it.” Meanwhile, Gabby Thomas, who secured gold in the 200m, reflects on her performance, saying, “On the track, I’m a whole different person. I know in my heart that I can win.”

In a lighthearted moment, Fred Kerley jokes about Lyles’ attitude, describing him as “cocky, arrogant, and all that.” However, what really caught fans off guard was the appearance of Sha’Carri Richardson. Despite not being slated for a major role in Sprint Part 2, she is shown four times in close-up shots during the trailer, sparking speculation about her potential involvement in the new season.

Richardson has been a standout figure in track and field since her gold medal performance in the 4×100-meter relay and her silver medal in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She first grabbed international attention with her world title in the 100 meters in Budapest in 2023. Richardson was a key figure in Sprint Season 1, with an entire episode dedicated to her World Championship victory. The first season was a major success, amassing 2.4 million views in its first week and becoming Netflix’s sixth-most-watched series globally.

Given her star power and popularity, fans were surprised when news broke in August that Richardson wouldn’t be featured in Sprint Part 2. Many expressed frustration, with one fan commenting, “No Sha’Carri, won’t be watching; everybody outside of Noah is a snooze fest.” Now, after catching a glimpse of her in the trailer, fans are buzzing with excitement, wondering if Richardson will indeed play a part in the upcoming season after all.
