Olympic 100-meter champion Julien Alfred is making waves both on and off the track. Following her remarkable victory at the Olympics, where she achieved a record-breaking 10.72 seconds, the 23-year-old from Saint Lucia has offered fans insight into her relationships with some of her toughest competitors, including the dynamic American sprinter, Sha’Carri Richardson.

While fans may see their on-track showdowns as intense rivalry, Alfred revealed a respectful and friendly bond with Richardson. Their Olympic race ended with Alfred’s stunning win in the 100 meters, a victory that not only secured her place among the elite but also made history for Saint Lucia. She also claimed a silver medal in the 200 meters, narrowly losing to American sprinter Gabby Thomas.

The competitive spirit between Alfred and Richardson continued beyond the Olympics at the Zurich Diamond League. Richardson secured victory with a 10.84-second finish, just edging out Alfred, who clocked 10.88 seconds. This close back-and-forth promises a captivating rivalry that fans can look forward to watching in the coming seasons. But Alfred insists that any rivalry remains strictly on the track.

“Whenever I see my competitors, I do say hi to them,” Alfred shared, speaking about her camaraderie with Richardson and other top sprinters. “Sha’Carri is a very sweet person to me, and so I have no issues with her.” She added that they often interact on social media, exchanging friendly comments and messages.

Alfred’s warmth and sportsmanship have earned her admiration, including from British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, who recently praised Alfred’s Olympic performance and expressed excitement about Alfred’s return to Saint Lucia, anticipating the celebrations awaiting her.
