The NASCAR community is mourning with veteran broadcaster Dave Moody following the passing of his mother. Known for his three-decade career with Motor Racing Network (MRN), Moody has been a fixture in NASCAR commentary since 1998. Over the years, he’s become known for his in-depth analyses, driver interviews, and memorable race broadcasts. However, as NASCAR’s season approached its climax in Phoenix last weekend, Moody found himself away from the track to handle a deeply personal crisis.

On the Friday of the race weekend, Moody shared an update on social media, explaining his absence from the Cup Series race: “Disappointed not to be at the track tonight, as I focus on my mother, who has had a significant health challenge back home in Vermont. Appreciate all the kind words and inquiries, but it’s time to hunker down with family.” Fans responded with an outpouring of support and well-wishes, hoping for his mother’s recovery.

Tragically, the next day, Moody announced the passing of his mother, thanking fans for their messages of support: “Just a quick word to those who reached out with words of comfort and support in the last few days. Mom passed away peacefully earlier this evening.”

Moody’s absence from the Phoenix race, a critical event as the Cup Series heads towards its finale, marks an emotional moment not only for him but also for his fans and colleagues. Many in the NASCAR community have rallied around him during this time, recognizing the tremendous dedication he has shown to the sport over the years.
