Ferrari has announced significant changes ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, highlighted by the arrival of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. The team came agonizingly close to capturing the constructors’ title at the recent Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but a victory by Lando Norris, coupled with a penalty for Charles Leclerc, ultimately secured the championship for McLaren. Hamilton’s move to Ferrari signals optimism for the team’s championship prospects, as the competition intensifies with four teams vying for the title in 2025.
Hamilton’s multi-year contract with Ferrari ensures his presence in the team even as the major regulatory changes come into effect in 2026. This transition period will also see the addition of a new team to the grid—Cadillac, backed by General Motors. Cadillac is expected to compete in the 2026 season, initially using power units sourced from a rival team until they develop their own power units by 2028.
In a further development, Ferrari has confirmed it will supply Cadillac with power units and gearboxes beginning in 2026. This partnership stems from a multi-year agreement with Andretti Formula Racing LLC, which is subject to approval from the FIA for their entry into the 2026 championship. With Cadillac onboard, Ferrari will have three teams utilizing its power units, joining the works team and Haas while Sauber transitions to Audi power units.
