Aston Martin has announced Daniel Juncadella as their new Simulator Driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The Spanish driver, who has a diverse background in single-seater and sportscar racing, will play a key role in helping the team recover from a challenging 2024 season. Aston Martin, which had a strong 2023 with several podium finishes, struggled in 2024, with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll underperforming in the AMR24, resulting in a drop to fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Juncadella’s role will primarily involve working with the team’s simulator at the AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone. His contributions will be essential for car development, refining setups, improving performance, and influencing race strategies. Having started his duties during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week in 2024, Juncadella’s experience, including a previous stint as a Reserve Driver for Aston Martin in 2014, makes him an invaluable asset to the team.
In addition to Juncadella’s appointment, Aston Martin is bolstering its future prospects with the anticipated arrival of legendary aerodynamicist Adrian Newey in 2025. Newey’s expertise is expected to be a pivotal factor in the team’s efforts to regain competitiveness. Juncadella, who has been competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with TF Sport, is eager to contribute to Aston Martin’s success.
Aston Martin’s management is focused on overcoming the setbacks of 2024, and the addition of Juncadella, along with other strategic moves, demonstrates the team’s commitment to returning to the top of the Constructors’ Championship and competing for the Formula 1 title. With the combination of skilled personnel and a renewed sense of ambition, Aston Martin aims to bounce back stronger in 2025 and beyond.
