Sergio Perez has been given a new role in Formula 1 following his departure from Red Bull after the 2024 season. Perez’s 2024 campaign was a challenging one, despite an impressive start with four podium finishes in the first five races. However, his form drastically declined thereafter. This inconsistency led Red Bull to reconsider their long-term plans for Perez. Although his early-season success had initially convinced the team to extend his contract until 2026, hopes for his improvement faded as the season progressed.

By the end of the year, Perez finished eighth in the drivers’ standings, trailing a staggering 285 points behind his teammate, Max Verstappen. In light of his underperformance, Red Bull officially confirmed Perez’s departure from the team ahead of the 2025 season, quickly naming Liam Lawson as his replacement. Despite the separation, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner acknowledged Perez’s contributions and spoke highly of his time with the team.

Horner also revealed that Perez would be staying within the Red Bull family in a new off-track role. While the specifics of the role have not been fully disclosed, it marks a new chapter for the Mexican driver within the organization. Red Bull has shown gratitude for Perez’s efforts and hinted at a continued relationship beyond his driving career. As Perez transitions to this new position, he remains a valued part of the Red Bull team, albeit in a different capacity away from the racetrack.
