NFL Insider Shares Interesting News Regarding Bears’ Future Plans

With the 2024 NFL season winding down, Chicago Bears fans find themselves figuring out which pieces of the staff will be let go and which pieces will be retained.

It is almost a foregone conclusion that after the dismissal of Head Coach Matt Eberflus and Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron earlier in the season, most, if not all, of the current coaching staff will be replaced.

However, the larger question is, who will select the new coaching staff? Current General Manager Ryan Poles has taken some heat over the last few weeks as the Bears continue to extend their losing streak.

However, NFL insider Albert Breer reports that Ryan Poles is not only safe heading into the offseason, but will also be the main point person in bringing in the new coaching staff.

Alignment between the GM and HC is crucial, and organizational stability is one of the most essential factors in attracting the best candidates to your franchise. If this is truly the case, then I would expect a Ryan Poles-extension announcement shortly after the season. The length of this extension would most likely be tied to the contract the Bears plan on handing out to their new head coach.

Poles’ track record for hiring coaches has been abysmal to this point. Nine different coaches have been fired under his supervision in three years, and this number will increase even more after this season. Does he deserve another shot at selecting a coaching staff? Either way, it certainly sounds like he’ll get it.
