7 Detroit Lions players make the NFC Pro Bowl team

The NFL has unveiled its 2024 Pro Bowl rosters, and the Detroit Lions are well-represented with seven players making the prestigious team. This marks a significant accomplishment for the Lions, who boast the second-highest number of Pro Bowl selections, trailing only the Baltimore Ravens, who earned nine spots.

The Lions’ representatives are:

Quarterback Jared Goff

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown

Offensive tackle Penei Sewell

Center Frank Ragnow

Safety Brian Branch

Punter Jack Fox

Goff and Gibbs are especially notable, as both finished among the league’s top five vote-getters. Goff, who has been instrumental in leading the Lions’ offense, earned the fifth spot in the Pro Bowl voting, while Gibbs, the team’s dynamic rookie running back, secured the second position. Their performances throughout the season, alongside the efforts of their teammates, helped propel the Lions to a competitive place in the NFL.

The inclusion of Goff, in particular, is significant considering his growth since joining the Lions. After a strong 2023 season, Goff has proven himself as a key leader for the team, guiding the offense with his arm and making critical plays in clutch moments. His consistent performance has caught the attention of both fans and league officials, earning him a well-deserved spot on the Pro Bowl roster.

Similarly, Gibbs, who was drafted by the Lions in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has quickly made his mark. His versatility as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield has been a valuable asset to the team, and his impressive rookie campaign led to widespread recognition, earning him one of the top spots in the voting.

Other notable selections include wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has emerged as one of the top young receivers in the league, and offensive linemen Penei Sewell and Frank Ragnow, who anchor the Lions’ offensive line with their dominant play. Additionally, safety Brian Branch has been a key defensive presence, while punter Jack Fox continues to excel at his position, helping the team with his booming kicks.

The 2024 Pro Bowl will take place in Orlando on February 2, and the Lions’ players will join some of the best talents in the NFL to showcase their skills in the annual all-star event.
