For an offensive line that’s missing the Rimington Award winner at center and a potential first-round draft choice at left tackle, any kind of help would’ve been welcome.
Montgomery has provided that against Tennessee and Oregon, even with a helmet that continually bashes his nose every time he makes contact with a defender.
“I’ve really felt the same the whole time,” Montgomery said Sunday. “I haven’t really blinked when I’ve gotten out there and gotten my opportunity. I think just the preparation the coaches have given us over these last couple of weeks going into games that gives you confidence on itself.”
The interior offensive lineman has played in a three-man rotation with Austin Siereveld and Tegra Tshabola at guard since the postseason began against Tennessee, and the results have been exactly what the Buckeyes have needed.
