Done Deal: South Carolina EDGE Elijah Davis signs permanent deal with Penn State out of NCAA transfer portal

Elijah Davis, a 6-foot-3, 256-pound EDGE rusher from Wagener, South Carolina, has officially transferred from the University of South Carolina to Penn State University. Davis entered the NCAA transfer portal after two seasons with the Gamecocks, seeking all new opportunity to showcase his talents.

Davis began his collegiate career at East Mississippi Community College, where he distinguished himself as a formidable defensive lineman. In his sophomore season, he recorded 35 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and three sacks, earning first-team all-conference and All-Region 23 honors. His impressive performance led to his ranking as the top junior college defensive tackle recruit in the nation.

In 2023, Davis transferred to the University of South Carolina, appearing in all 12 games and earning a starting position against Florida. He concluded the season with six tackles and a quarterback hurry, with a notable three-tackle performance against Tennessee. Despite his potential, Davis saw limited action in the 2024 season, participating in just one game.

At Penn State, Davis is expected to bolster the Nittany Lions’ defensive front with his versatility and experience. Known for his agility and strength, he has the ability to play both inside and on the edge, providing valuable depth to the defensive line. Penn State’s coaching staff is optimistic that Davis’s addition will enhance their pass rush and overall defensive performance in the upcoming season.

Davis’s journey from a standout high school player at Wagener-Salley High School to a top junior college prospect, and now to Penn State, reflects his resilience and commitment to the sport. As he integrates into the Nittany Lions’ program, fans and analysts alike will be watching to see how his skills and experience contribute to the team’s success in the highly competitive Big Ten Conference.
