On June 23, 2024, legendary NHRA driver John Force was involved in a horrifying crash during the first round of Funny Car eliminations at the Virginia Nationals. The 75-year-old was piloting his PEAK Chevy Camaro when the engine exploded shortly after he crossed the finish line at an astonishing 302.62 mph.

Approximately two weeks later, Force was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Arizona for further recovery and then returned home to Yorba Linda, California. His recovery regimen has included speech, occupational, and physical therapy to address cognitive and behavioral symptoms caused by the crash.
This incident is among the most severe of Force’s four-decade racing career, which began in 1978. Over the years, he has become one of the most decorated drivers in drag racing history, with a record 157 NHRA victories and 16 Funny Car championships.
