FIA steward drops Verstappen Las Vegas Grand Prix DNF BOMBSHELL following Max Verstappen….read more
In a surprising update ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, former F1 driver and FIA steward Johnny Herbert revealed that a Max Verstappen DNF could have a major impact on the championship outcome. This comes as Verstappen edges closer to his fourth world title following a remarkable performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he claimed victory despite starting from 16th on the grid due to a Q2 exit and a grid penalty. His main championship rival, Lando Norris, had taken pole position but ultimately finished sixth, placing his title hopes in serious jeopardy.
Verstappen’s drive through the field in Brazil showcased his resilience. With a well-timed red flag, the Red Bull driver seized the lead, bringing him closer to clinching the title. Norris, however, now faces an uphill battle to win the championship, which would require near-flawless results and for Verstappen to falter.
Herbert, however, believes the race for the title isn’t over yet. In an interview with Vision4Sport, he emphasized that a single non-finish by Verstappen could alter the championship race. “Norris just has to keep doing what he’s doing. If Max has a non-finish, it could shift things dramatically,” Herbert noted. Despite this, he acknowledged Verstappen remains the favorite, even if such a scenario unfolds.
Herbert further highlighted that, regardless of the season’s final standings, Norris has broken an important psychological barrier by consistently challenging Verstappen. “Norris has pushed Max to his limit and shown he can compete at this level, which will be crucial going into 2025,” he added. This fierce competition between the two drivers has stirred excitement for fans, who eagerly await the results of the upcoming Las Vegas race and the remainder of the Season.
