Sixteen-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force shared a warm Thanksgiving message with fans, expressing gratitude and reflecting on a challenging year. The message, delivered in a video released by John Force Racing, featured not only the legendary racer but also his daughter, Brittany Force, and teammates Jack Beckman and Austin Prock.
In the video, John Force addressed fans with a simple but heartfelt wish: “John Force here, 16-time Funny Car Champ, and I just want to say to you and your family, have a happy Thanksgiving.” His daughter Brittany chimed in, adding, “Everyone at John Force Racing is thankful for all our amazing fans.”
This Thanksgiving message comes at the end of a year filled with both hardships and recovery for Force. On June 23, 2024, during the NHRA Virginia Nationals, Force endured a harrowing crash caused by an engine explosion. The incident propelled his car into a concrete barrier at speeds surpassing 300 mph. The impact left him with multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, a fractured sternum, and damage to his right wrist.
Following the crash, Force spent two weeks in intensive care at a Virginia hospital before transferring to the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix for rehabilitation. His recovery journey was arduous but marked by determination and support from his family, team, and fans.
In a return appearance at an NHRA event in Las Vegas, Force offered insights into his recovery process, acknowledging the toll years of high-impact racing had taken on his body. “I’m going to be spectating for a while. That’s what I need to do to get well,” he said. “I got hit in the head – not just once… a lot of times. And it all kind of built up.”
Although Force has yet to announce a definitive return to racing, his focus remains on healing and supporting his team. His Thanksgiving message reflects his deep appreciation for the fans who have stood by him through his journey.
