INJURY BLOW: Birmingham City Star Faces EFL Trophy Final Heartache*

Birmingham City’s Promotion Push Takes a Hit as Star Forward Suffers Injury

League One leaders Birmingham City‘s preparations for the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley has suffered a major blow as one of their forward options has picked up an injury in training this week.

The Blues are set to take over 40k fans to the capital to face fellow League One side Peterborough United, in what could well be a league and cup double for the run-away leaders.

However, Birmingham City‘s summer signing Emil Hansson has picked up an injury in training, casting doubt on his fitness for the final.

This is not the first injury the Swedish forward has picked up, having already suffered from muscular issues throughout the season.

What has Chris Davies said on the Birmingham City injury?

Speaking to Birmingham Live, Davies confirmed the Birmingham City injury news:

“Frustratingly for Emil and us, he picked up a bit of a knock in training the day before the game, so that’s disappointing.”

“It’s not a season-ender, it will be a few weeks maximum. We’ll have to see how he goes in the next few days.”

Davies also took the time to update fans on the situation of club captain Krystian Bielik and Taylor Gardner-Hickman, who have missed several games between them.

In addition to Hansson‘s setback, Davies provided updates on other injured players:

Krystian Bielik, the club captain, is managing a minor niggle. While not serious, it is something the team is monitoring.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman is close to returning to training and is expected to rejoin the squad early next week.

“Taylor is close to training with the team again,”

“That is scheduled for early next week so he’s pretty much there, more or less, but then you need to build up again.

“Krystian Bielik has just been managing a niggle. It’s nothing major but it’s something we’re working with him on.”
