
As of June 2025, Tom Meents is alive and well. He retired from competitive monster truck racing in 2024 after a distinguished 38-year career. During his final season, Meents suffered a significant injury—a dislocated neck—during a crash at an Indianapolis event. This injury led to his early retirement from active competition.
Despite retiring from driving, Meents remains an influential figure in the monster truck community. He continues to contribute to the sport through his work at Monster Jam University, where he mentors and trains aspiring drivers.
