Hollywood Reporter: The Legendary Elizabeth Taylor to Receive Posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2025 Ceremony… Read More

June 21, 2025 – Hollywood, CA

More than a decade after her passing, Dame Elizabeth Taylor — one of Hollywood’s most iconic and beloved stars — will be honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025, officials have confirmed. The announcement comes as part of the Walk of Fame Class of 2025, celebrating a new wave of entertainment legends whose contributions continue to shape the industry.

Set for unveiling in a grand ceremony scheduled for October 2025, the honor recognizes Taylor’s remarkable legacy on screen and her powerful influence off it. Best known for her roles in classics such as Cleopatra, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Taylor was more than a cinematic force — she was a humanitarian, an entrepreneur, and a fearless advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness.

“Elizabeth Taylor was the very definition of a Hollywood icon,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies. “Her legacy of fierce talent, beauty, and compassion lives on, and we are honored to finally lay her star among the constellation she helped create.”

A Star That Never Dimmed

Born in London and raised in Los Angeles, Taylor’s acting career began in childhood and quickly blossomed into superstardom. With two Academy Awards to her name and a filmography spanning five decades, she broke barriers both in front of and behind the camera. Her commanding performances and magnetic screen presence made her one of the highest-paid actresses of her time.

Taylor was also widely regarded for her unapologetic personal style, trailblazing fashion sense, and high-profile relationships, including two marriages to fellow Hollywood titan Richard Burton.

A Heart for Humanity

While her film career secured her a place in cinematic history, Taylor’s later years were marked by activism. Following the death of her close friend Rock Hudson from AIDS in 1985, she became one of the first major celebrities to publicly champion HIV/AIDS research and care — founding the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and raising hundreds of millions of dollars for the cause.

In acknowledgment of her work, Taylor received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy in 1993 and was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000.

“My mother would have been deeply moved by this recognition,” said Michael Wilding Jr., Taylor’s son, who is expected to speak at the ceremony. “Though she has been gone for years, the world continues to embrace her spirit, her artistry, and her humanity.”

Celebrating the Legacy

The star will be placed near Hollywood Boulevard’s historic TCL Chinese Theatre, alongside other silver-screen legends of Taylor’s era. The event is expected to draw fans from around the world, as well as close friends, family members, former co-stars, and philanthropic partners.

Netflix is also reportedly developing a limited series based on Taylor’s life, with casting announcements expected later this year — further proving her story remains as relevant and captivating as ever.
