Rangers could beat arch-rivals Celtic to the signing of former Aberdeen forward Bojan Miovski this summer.
The 26-year-old made the switch from Scotland to La Liga side Girona at the start of last season, but could be set for a swift return after a disappointing campaign on the continent.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side have been heavily linked with the striker, as the former Liverpool manager looks to reinforce his attacking ranks.
The Hoops are aiming to win their fifth Scottish Premiership title in a row next season.
However, Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Celtic may be pipped to the signing of Miovski by Glasgow rivals Rangers.

Rangers to partner Miovski with Vardy
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Rangers could go into the upcoming campaign with a strike partnership of Miovski and Jamie Vardy.
Vardy has been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox after departing Leicester City at the end of last season.
Wyness added that Celtic are losing a bit of “allure” in the market, while Rangers‘ aggressive approach is paying dividends.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I studied Miovski closely when he was at Aberdeen. He did get the sort of the scoring knack after a while. Obviously, he adapted well to the Scottish game. He is a box striker, which I think is what Celtic and Rangers need.
“With Rangers, I’m still in love with this concept of Jamie Vardy going to them. If Miovski could go as well, they’d have two options, different types of players, obviously, and different strikers. It would be a luxury, but they could use them.
“I think Vardy’s experience in the European games could be crucial and that’s why he could go there, even if he only played 20 games a year.
“Mivovski, if Celtic aren’t going to move on him, I think Rangers may well do. I think that he will suit Russell Martin and he’s a quality striker in the Scottish Premiership.
“He wouldn’t make it, I don’t think, much more than beyond the lower level of the English Championship, but I think he’s got that quality to strike in Scotland, and he’s proven it.
“Rangers are more aggressive right now, and that means they’re attracting more players and more interest from players. Celtic are losing a little bit of that allure, and so that’s another reason they need to do something in the marketplace.
“As for Bojan, good luck. I think Scotland’s really his level and his market and he should come back. I think he could shine at either club.”

Celtic winger set for exit
Meanwhile, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic’s out-of-favour winger Luis Palma is set to leave the club to join Polish side Lech Poznan on loan.
Palma, 25, is well down the pecking order at Celtic and spent the second half of last season on loan at Olympiacos, where he scored one goal and provided one assist in 11 appearances for the Greek giants.
The Honduras international was left out of Celtic’s squad for the training camp in Portugal so he could sort out his future.
Palma turned down offers from the EFL Championship, Turkey and MLS to join Lech Poznan, who will play in Europe next season as they aim to qualify for the Champions League.
