Villa forward Louie Barry is on course to complete his loan switch to Sheffield United in the next 48 hours
The 22-year-old has featured in both of Villa’s first two pre-season friendlies, at Walsall and Hansa Rostock.
But he is not part of Unai Emery’s plans for the campaign ahead and is expected to spend the coming campaign at Bramall Lane following talks between the clubs over the past week.
Barry came close to leaving Villa permanently earlier in the month, after a proposed move to Hull broke down at the 11th hour.
The Albion academy product made four appearances while on loan with the Tigers during the second half of last season, when Ruben Selles was their head coach.
He is now set to be reunited with Selles, who is now in charge of the Blades after being sacked by Hull at the end of the campaign.
Speaking about the proposed arrival of Barry over the weekend, Selles said: “I expect to have, as I said, two or three days ago, I expect to have a couple of players in the building in the next two to five days.
