The “Green Kornet” is staying put.
The Boston Celtics started NBA free agency by quickly re-signing Luke Kornet to a one-year deal, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The 7-foot-2 center’s contract was announced just as the free agency period began on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.
Kornet, who will turn 29 on July 15, averaged 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and one block per game last season with the 2024 NBA champions. He played a crucial role in providing depth for the Celtics’ frontcourt, supporting the often-injured Kristaps Porzingis and the 38-year-old Al Horford.
