The Kentucky Wildcats seem to have a new candidate for the 13th scholarship spot on Mark Pope’s initial roster.
On Monday, class of 2025 recruit Jeremiah Fears announced that he had been contacted by Kentucky.
“Just got a call from the Kentucky Wildcats,” Fears stated.
This news came just hours after Fears decommitted from Illinois and decided to reclassify into 2024.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound player from Compass Prep in Arizona had originally chosen Illinois over Kansas, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Providence. He also has offers from Tennessee, Arizona, Oregon, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Florida State, and Georgia.
Fears is currently ranked 33rd nationally for the 2025 class and the seventh-best combo guard by 247 Sports Composite. ESPN, On3, and Rivals list him as a point guard, with his highest ranking being 24th overall by ESPN.
As the 2024-25 season approaches, Kentucky has only one true point guard with college experience, Kerr Kriisa. Lamont Butler is expected to compete for the point guard role but played more off the ball at San Diego State.
Thus, adding another point guard would be ideal, making Fears an even more appealing option for Pope.
